A psychological delve into the bittersweet and tragic human experience. Very morally explorative perspective into it as well, weighing moral necessity, sacrifice, religon, and values that makes people think about the injustices of the world, and issues like murder and justice in a more nuanced empathetic way. Dostoyevsky is a master of writing such heavy, nuanced, philosophical, bittersweet human topics, I highly reccomend him and his literature, especially to those who have felt isolated on this topic.
Though if you are not familiar with his works, this book might feel a little intense and even overwhelming emotionally and psychologically. Please read with care. In such case it's too overwhelming, bringing up memories or bad thoughts, it might be better to read more simple and less dense works that deal with sociological, psychological and heavy themes. Such as political works like Virginia Woolf's, Franz Kafka's, one of Dostoyevsky's other books, etc and then come back to this.
